Sep 16 - Sep 18    11th Annual Civil Collaborative Law Conference

GCLC, the Dallas Bar Association and State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Sections, and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics will sponsor the only exclusively civil collaborative law training event slated for 2015. The three day program will be held at the historic Belo Mansion, 2101 Ross Avenue in Dallas, Texas.

September 16: A basic training in civil collaborative, a program designed to introduce lawyers, other professionals and our clients the fundamentals of civil collaborative law.

September 17-18: An in depth study of collaborative resolution of a medical error and apology case, led by Diann Seigle, Executive Director for the Carolina Dispute Settlement Services, which administers the Integrative Accountability and Collaborative Transparency Program (IACT), and Aida Doss Havel, who serves on the IACT Executive Committee.  Both leaders have extensive training and real world experience resolving medical error cases through their work in helping North Carolina hospitals, physicians and patients resolve conflict.

This one of a kind conference will also include presentations on the use of collaborative law to resolve issues involving same sex couples, apology, ethical considerations of collaborative practice, the nature and value of collaborative practice, and methods for getting stakeholders to buy into the collaborative process.   Current status of enactment of Collaborative legislation in jurisdictions around the country will be discussed, as well as proposed legislation expressly providing for the use of Collaborative process to resolve medical error issues.
